Um eine Alternative zu Tierleder zu schaffen, entwickelten Adrián López Velarde und Marte Cázarez, beide aus Mexiko,
veganes Leder aus Nopal (einem Kaktus), das sie in der letzten Ausgabe der Internationalen Ledermesse Lineapelle erfolgreich präsentierten 2019,
die im Oktober in Mailand, Italien stattfand.
Ziel der Unternehmer war es, eine grausame, nachhaltige Alternative ohne giftige Chemikalien, Phthalate und PVC zu schaffen.
Das Ergebnis, Cactus Leather, ist teilweise biologisch abbaubar und weist die technischen Spezifikationen auf, die von der Mode-, Lederwaren-,
Möbel- und sogar Automobilindustrie gefordert werden.
Dank seiner hohen Beständigkeit und Haltbarkeit von (mindestens) 10 Jahren kann dieses ökologische,
nachhaltige Produkt die Verwendung von tierischem Leder und anderen nicht umweltfreundlichen synthetischen Materialien ersetzen.
Die Idee, diesen Rohstoff zu verwenden, entstand, weil diese Pflanze kein Wasser zum Wachsen benötigt und es in der gesamten mexikanischen Republik
reichlich davon gibt. Symbolisch repräsentiert es uns alle Mexikaner und jeder weiß es.
Um dieses Material in verschiedenen Industrien einsetzen zu können, ist es außerdem unerlässlich,auf eine stabile und reichliche Rohstoffversorgung zu zählen.
Wir haben derzeit 2 Hektar, auf denen wir Nopals anbauen, sowie eine Ausdehnungskapazität von 40 Hektar.
In Bezug auf die Produktionskapazität haben wir 500.000 Laufmeter pro Monat.
Nach zweijähriger Forschungs- und Entwicklungsarbeit ist es uns gelungen, ein geeignetes Material herzustellen,
das den Merkmalen und technischen / mechanischen Spezifikationen der Branchen entspricht, in denen tierisches oder synthetisches Leder verwendet wird.
Außerdem ist es dank seiner organischen Zusammensetzung atmungsaktiv, wodurch Kaktus- oder Nopal-Vegan-Leder Tierleder ähnelt.

To create an alternative to animal leather, Adrián López Velarde and Marte Cázarez, both from Mexico, developed
vegan leather from Nopal (a cactus), which they successfully presented in the last edition of the Lineapelle International Leather Show 2019,

The idea to use this raw material came about because this plant does not need water to grow and it does throughout the Mexican Republic

In order to use this material in different industries, it is also essential
to count on a stable and abundant supply of raw materials.
We currently have 2 acres on which we grow nopals and an expansion capacity of 40 hectares.

What made you think that Nopal could be a good alternative for animal leather?
After two years of research and development, we have succeeded in producing a suitable material
which corresponds to the characteristics and technical / mechanical specifications of the industries in which animal or synthetic leather is used.
In addition, it is breathable thanks to its organic composition, making cactus or nopal vegan leather resemble animal leather.
